What we don't know about hypnotherapy for anxiety
Open questions: GAD-only trials, add-on to full CBT, panic and social anxiety, and transfer from the procedure suite to the clinic chair.

Grade B is a studied, unfinished answer. These are the holes this cluster will not paper over.
Key evidence
Valentine 2019 had four general-anxiety trials. That is not a GAD evidence base. Coelho 2007 had already called the clinical pile insufficient.
A large, independently run, DSM-diagnosed GAD trial of one named hypnotherapy protocol versus guideline-dose CBT (and versus CBT plus hypnosis) is still missing.
Schnur 2008 answers procedure-day distress, not whether that effect survives as a weekly worry treatment.
Panic, social anxiety, health anxiety, and child anxiety are not graded here. They have their own clinic pages. This wiki does not 301 them into adult anxiety.
Limitations
“We don’t know” is not “it does not work.” It is also not permission to quote a clinic percentage as Valentine’s 0.79.
What we don't know yet
Australian cost-effectiveness versus stepped psychological care is not estimated from this trial set. Remote and app packages are a different pile.
