Hypnotherapy for sleep

Norwest Wellbeing treats insomnia, sleep issues and nightmares by retraining the racing-mind pattern that keeps you awake, through one-to-one sessions or the Norwest Method sleep audio program.

Hypnotherapy for sleep at Norwest Wellbeing works on the pattern that keeps you awake: the racing mind, the frustration of watching the clock, the learned association between bed and worry. Sessions retrain your mind's automatic response to bedtime so that winding down becomes the default again.

Why sleep problems persist

Sleep is not something you can force; trying harder to sleep is exactly what keeps many people awake. Insomnia usually persists because the mind has learned an unhelpful automatic pattern: getting into bed triggers alertness, planning, replaying the day or worrying about tomorrow, and then worrying about not sleeping compounds it.

Because this loop is automatic, it responds well to work at the unconscious level. Hypnosis itself is a state of focused, settled attention (close to the state you need to drift off) and hypnotherapy uses it to rebuild the association between bed and rest, quieten mental chatter and change how you respond to night-time waking. When anxiety is driving the sleeplessness, the same work addresses it directly; see hypnotherapy for anxiety.

What the clinic works with

Sleep work at Norwest Wellbeing covers insomnia and sleep issues, and nightmares. Part of the broader list in conditions we work with. Sleep issues are also among the most common childhood concerns the clinic sees, alongside bed wetting and night-time fears, within the paediatric practice led by Paul Smith.

Your options

  • One-to-one sessions. Initial consultation up to 90 minutes ($300, including an audio recording of the trance portion, which many sleep clients listen to at bedtime), returning sessions up to 60 minutes ($300). In-clinic at Norwest or via Zoom Australia-wide.
  • The Norwest Method: an 8-week personalised audio program available for sleep ($497 up front or $67/week): weekly personalised sessions written from your intake form, ideal for practising night after night.

No outcome is guaranteed, and consistency matters. Sleep patterns change through repetition. If you're weighing up live sessions versus the audio program, book a free 15-minute callback via /appointments or phone (02) 8069 9777 and the clinic will recommend the better starting point for your situation.
